Launa Haney Post
Launa Haney Post is a
Speech Communication graduate from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Launa spent sixteen years with the Washington County Conservation District
as the Education Coordinator. Education programs either developed or
enhanced by Launa included youth conservation camps, teacher workshops, in
school environmental programming and the development of the annual
Washington County Children’s Groundwater Festival. Due to the success of
the Washington County Children’s Groundwater Festival the program received
the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence in 1998 and the Three
Rivers Environmental Award in 1995.
As a result of her
efforts in initiating an Environmental Shopping program with Foodland
Stores, the Conservation District took first place honors in the “Take Pride
in America” award program in 1990 and was recognized in a ceremony in
Washington, D.C.
Other environmental
awards include, Distinguished Service Award from the California School
District Environmental Club, Take Pride in Pennsylvania for the Washington
County Youth Conservation Camp, and the District’s environmental education
program was selected Best in Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Association of
Conservation Districts in 1991.
In an attempt to take her
event planning, management and organizational skills to a new level, Launa
left the government sector to take a position as the Event’s Coordinator in
the Human Development Department of an international corporation. In that
role, Launa organized various team member events such as golf outings,
family-bowling outings, a company picnic, Team Member Appreciation Day,
Health Risk Assessment Program, blood drives, mammograms and other company
related activities.
As a result of corporate
downsizing, Launa returned to her environmental education roots by focusing
her energies on the application of photovoltaics thanks to an offer by
Hopwood Inc.’s renewable energy company, Springhouse Energy Systems, Inc.
As the Sales and Marketing Director for photovoltaic systems, she
collaborated on system designs and installation for grid connected
applications for commercial and Green Power markets.
A shift in Hopwood Inc.’s
business focus has now afforded Launa yet another opportunity to offer her
abilities on a larger scale through the creation of Virtual Business
Solutions. As a member of the Virtual Office Assistant Services, she can
continue to focus on sales and marketing issues as well as use her creative
skills to develop or enhance client events.
“How exciting
to be able to work in a forum with vast opportunities and diverse
potential. Not only do I hope to make a positive impact for clients, but
also I am thrilled to have the ability to learn something from them as part
of the experience.”
Launa is also an avid
Hallmark Christmas Tree Ornament collector. She enjoys listening to audio
books while working in the yard. Another hobby is volunteer work as she
offers time to the local fire company fundraising events and church
activities.
